Historic Main Street
Three blocks of 1880s and 1890s storefronts, a Colorado Main Street community with interpretive plaques, the 1907 bank, the 1890 Huber-Carlson Building and the 1882 railroad section house.
Elizabeth’s Main Street is the reason to come: a compact run of storefronts from the railroad years, now full of hat makers, antique rooms, a brewery and a coffee house. The Town has worked at it deliberately — a preservation ordinance and Historic Advisory Board in 1998, the 1882 Section House restored in 2002, interpretive plaques along the street in 2012, Certified Local Government status in 2015, and membership in the Colorado Main Street Program. Start at the 1907 First National Bank at 188 South Main and read the plaques as you walk.
